Once the strategic planning of the personal branding shoot is complete (which story to tell, the visual message, location, etc.), it’s time to get camera ready!
On that note, here are my top tips to ensure you feel prepared before the session and amazing throughout it!
1. Gather your Props
Props help you feel more relaxed. Especially at the beginning of a shoot, it’s always nice to have something familiar with you that draw your attention away from the camera.
Look for items that you use in your daily work. It’s also a great idea to gather things that mean something to you and would help to support your personal story e.g. favourite books, flowers, your journal, and so on.
If the items complement your brand’s colour palette, even better!
2. Makeup and Hair
Think about what feels best for you! A blow dry in the day and a bit more makeup than usual might be the right look for the shoot (an evening look), or a lighter more natural look might feel like the better choice. We can consider booking a stylist, MUA, hairstylist etc. if needed. I am happy to help with recommendations.
3. Self-care
Avoid drinking alcohol a few days before the shoot. Drink lots of water as well to promote healthy and glowing skin!
Sleep, sleep, sleep.
Get plenty of sleep at least 2 days before your photo session. 8 hours of sleep a day will make you feel restful and fresh.
Why not also treat yourself to a manicure the day before the shoot?
4. Outfit Choice
“What do I wear for my branding photo shoot?”
Well, my best tip would be to wear something that makes you feel confident, comfortable and most like YOU.
Generally, solid colours look better than busy prints. I would recommend avoiding super trendy pieces and neon colours. Consider your brand colours and values. Wearing heels is flattering for many women but if it’s not your style, don’t wear them.
Don’t forget to consider accessories: statement earrings or a necklace can look beautiful. Jewellery really can take any outfit to the next level and make you feel fabulous!
I hope this has helped you feel more confident about to best prepare for your personalised shoot! Please do get in touch if you have any questions at all. I’d be more than happy to help.
